The podcast boom cannot be stopped. In the face of such an immediate and continuous barrage of information, this genre offers depth and a diversity of topics whenever your body and mind are ready to listen. This is why many are talking about the rise of a new phenomenon: the epicurean listener.

The speed with which Spotify, iVoox, Apple Podcast, Podimo and Amazon, among others, are continually launching new programs, both in Spanish and English, is astounding. According to Listen Notes, a podcast search engine, there are about 2.7 million podcasts and more than 118 million episodes available in more than 100 languages, mainly in English (1.6 million programs), followed by Spanish (329,000).

Accordingly, companies have quickly come to understand that podcasts are a good way to communicate with parts of their audiences, with content and stories that are in tune with their interests.

The podcast has become a must-have item to enrich the daily routines of millions of people, as well as being a perfect way to escape and disconnect,” explains Eduardo Alonso, Spotify’s Head of Studios for Southern and Eastern Europe.

The following is a varied list of 10 must-hear podcasts for 2022.

  1. The Daily is The New York Times podcast heard daily by 2 million people. In 20 minutes, the podcast addresses a hot topic by interviewing both experts and journalists from the editorial team of one of the world’s most well-known newspapers. “What we like to do is surprise our morning listeners as much as possible,” says the show’s host, Michael Barbaro.

 

  1. Entiende tu mente (Understand your mind).Who doesn’t have 20 minutes for a show about curious features of the mind?” is how this podcast is presented. In a short period of time, the show covers psychological issues that are useful in explaining how our brains work. The Spaniards who produce the podcasts are the Molo Cebrián, Luis Muiño, Mónica González and Rober Mengual, all experts in the field.

It is set in the year 2022 where psychiatrist Elisa Aldunate (played by Chilean actress Antonia Zegers) records her sessions with an enigmatic patient, filed as Case 63 (starring Chilean actor Néstor Cantillana), who claims to be a time traveler. “What begins as routine therapeutic sessions quickly morphs into a story that pushes the boundaries of what is possible and what is real,” reports It is a Spotify original podcast.

 

  1. Se regalan dudas, is one of the most listened to podcasts in Latin America. Its creators are two Mexican women, Lety Sahagún and Ashley Frangie, who invite you to question everything, truly everything. Every Tuesday they present a new guest who is willing to address a taboo topic or something that helps to better people’s lives. Their podcast is an experience worth listening to.

 

  1. Tomás va a morir (Tomás is going to die). For the last few years this Chilean podcast was a phenomenon and held the first place in the Chilean podcast ranking, though it has since been surpassed by Caso 63. It is a program produced by three friends: Tomás Leiva, Edo Caroe and Alejandro Barros. Tomás had a heart attack and the other two fear that he might die soon, so they decide to meet weekly to best enjoy their friend’s possible “final days,” which makes this podcast an ultra-honest and quite outrageous conversation.

Available on Apple Podcast this is a truly fascinating show as some of the world’s leading innovators, entrepreneurs and market researchers share their stories and insights. In just a few minutes, listeners will be on the cutting edge of the issues of importance. This podcast is truly worth your time.

 

  1. Bicameral. This is Azerta’s podcast that examines the legislative week in Chile. Hosted by Ian Mackinnon and Javier Sajuria from London, it is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. It is the perfect way to keep up to date about the details, debates, votes and most interesting news from the Chilean Congress. The hosts analyze and discuss the key details of various bills being considered in the Congress. In addition, they highlight the “star bill of the week,” due to its significance or the impact that its subsequent implementation will have.

 

  1. El podcast de Jana Fernández (Jana Fernández’s Podcast). Jana, who is a specialist in psychoneuroimmunology and brain biochemistry created this podcast targeted at people interested in health and wellness. The project was started five years ago by Luis Ramos, an engineer from Puebla (Mexico). He compiles the best books on entrepreneurship and offers essential reading tips.
